Last Friday, our middle school students were treated to a special presentation by writer Briar Grace-Smith, who is visiting Guangzhou as a writer-in-residence at Sun Yat Sen University.
In the Primary Years we believe that education must extend beyond the academic to include not only socially responsible attitudes, but also thoughtful and appropriate actions.
Our unique learning environment in the Redtory, Arts Precinct, encourages and enables individual thought and creativity, whilst using the latest technological learning tools.
Our school community embraces caring, mindfulness and teamwork.
Our international teachers offer diverse skills and experiences, facilitating learning that is individualised and high-level inquiry-driven, in a multicultural setting.
The programme is holistic and builds on each student’s skills and prior learning.
At ISA, students are not only doing something to make a difference for others, they are also creating an opportunity for personal growth and reflection.
We have a collaborative way of learning that gives students the opportunities to engage in experiences that challenge their thinking and build on what they already know and can do.
We ask them to be able to interact with these new ideas using higher level and critical thinking skills.
The Chinese language programme uses the Chinese National Curriculum (CNC). English, math, science and social studies are informed by international school curricula.
Our strong Mother Tongue Programme supports and deepens student understanding and expands language skills.
The Primary curriculum, based on the IB PYP*, covers six transdisciplinary themes.
The six themes are part of a framework that includes:
- Who we are
- Where we are in place and time
- How we express ourselves
- How the world works
- How we organize ourselves
- Sharing the planet
